2025: The Year of FOCUS
For years, every January like clockwork, I’d sit down with a fresh notebook and a long list of resolutions: get healthier, grow my business, spend more time with family. You know the drill.
For a week or two, I’d feel unstoppable, armed with the determination to tackle my big goals. But by February—or let’s be honest, halfway through January—the enthusiasm would fizzle out. The notebook would get buried under a pile of papers, and the resolutions? Forgotten.
Sound familiar?
In 2014, when I started my entrepreneurial journey, I realized resolutions just weren’t working for me. They felt rigid, and overwhelming, and often didn’t align with the ebb and flow of life.
That’s when I heard about choosing a word of the year—a simple, flexible theme to guide your decisions and focus your energy. The idea clicked instantly.
Instead of forcing myself to stick to a list of resolutions, I could pick one word that resonated deeply and use it as a compass for the year ahead. It wasn’t about doing more or being perfect; it was about staying grounded in what mattered most.
Over the years, my words have included Believe, Simplify, Work Smarter Not Harder, No Excuses, Balance, Less, and Rediscover. Each one has reflected where I was in life and what I needed to grow. And now, as I look ahead to 2025, one word has stood out above all others:
My 2025 Word: FOCUS
After reflecting on 2024 and envisioning the year ahead, Focus feels right. It’s about prioritizing what truly matters—cutting through the noise, distractions, and busywork to make space for clarity and alignment in both my personal and professional life.
Professionally: Focusing on Growth and Alignment
In my business, Focus will mean:
Doing What I Love Most
This year, I’m doubling down on what brings me joy—whether that’s creating content, hosting events, or collaborating with amazing clients. I’ll be leaning into the work that excites me most.Prioritizing Profitability
I plan to revisit untapped opportunities: repackaging past workshops, developing mini-courses, experimenting with ads, and creating valuable downloads (paid and free).Building Stronger Relationships
I’m focusing on collaborations and client relationships that align with my values and bring mutual joy.Exploring New Revenue Streams
Whether it’s affiliate programs or blog monetization, I’ll be uncovering “missing pieces” to grow my business sustainably.
Personally: Focusing on Health, Wealth, and Family
On a personal level, Focus will guide me to:
Health: Continuing my commitment to daily movement, like hitting 10,000 steps each day, incorporating more fruits and veggies into my meals, and making consistent, small choices that lead to big health wins over time.
Wealth: Taking intentional steps toward financial stability and growth, both in my business and personal life. This includes budgeting smarter, saving more, and exploring ways to invest in my future.
Family: Making space for more quality time with loved ones. Whether it’s family dinners, weekend adventures, or simply being present in everyday moments, I want to deepen those connections. Aka let’s put the cell phone down, less doom scrolling.
Why Focus Matters in 2025
The last few years brought challenges, lessons, and a lot of distractions. Focus feels like the right way to clear the noise and center myself. It’s about being present, intentional, and proactive.
In 2025, I’ll say:
No to what doesn’t serve me.
Yes to what aligns with my goals and values.
More space for creativity, self-care, and growth.
This isn’t just about productivity—it’s about living with purpose and clarity.
