10 Fall Social Media post ideas for your business

It’s been one of those weird years where it feels like the year just started and we were wracking our brains for spring content and then all of a sudden it’s fall and it’s time to take advantage of the changing seasons.

Personally, I love brainstorming and coming up with ideas for different themes and different times of year! With the holiday season coming up, now is the best time to focus on engaging your audience with seasonal cheer to make sure your social media accounts are primed to take advantage of the holiday sales season.

Best way to do this without coming across as too salsey? Create personal posts that engage, entertain and educate your audience!

Here are 10 fall-inspired social media post ideas for your business ideas to get your creative juices flowing.

10 Social Media Post Ideas For Fall

#1 Post Fall Photos

Nova Scotia is absolutely GORGEOUS in the autumn and provides a great opportunity to colour your behind-the-scenes content.

As you adventure around on the weekends, make sure to share that side of yourself as a business owner with your followers. Think fall photoshoots, exploring the pumpkin people in the valley, corn mazes or even taking a weekend away to go hiking.

Selling products? Make sure to keep some on you so you can post about them taking advantage of the scenery around you.

#2 Share Seasonal Activities

My family absolutely loves all the fall activities you can do in Nova Scotia during this time of year! Give me apple picking, corn mazes, pumpkin patches and so much more.

And, because I love supporting local, this gives me an opportunity to share other businesses' content with my followers.

#3 Fall Inspired Recipes

You don’t need to be a food blogger to share recipes with your followers! As the seasons change and we start drinking pumpkin spice lattes and baking pumpkin pie, this is your chance to get creative with your content.

Share your favourite apple pie recipe and ask your followers to share what they’re cooking up for the fall holidays as a way to engage with your audience on a personal level.

In an office? Share some of your employees favourite potluck recipes to replace your usual ‘about us’ content.

#4 Fall Style & Fashion

As the seasons change, so do our wardrobes. Out with the shorts and t-shirts, and in with the cozy sweaters, boots and scarves.

If you sell products, this content is a shoe in. Whether you’re wearing your product, or just wearing something cozy while using or holding your product—this is the perfect way to celebrate the fall and promote yourself without being too salesy. You can also create a fall look book or Instagram Guide with a carousel of photos to share your favourite fall looks!

Not in the business of selling products? No problem. Post about your favourite fall sweater that keeps you warm while you work on your latest client’s project!

Get your followers involved by asking them their OOTD too!

#5 Fall Trends In Beauty

Following the same guidelines as the last prompt—as the seasons change, our beauty routines do too!

Fall colour pallets are huge in the beauty world. Try sharing tips and how-to videos on how to get your perfect ‘fall look.’

#6 Fall Essentials

What are your Fall essentials? Share them with your followers!

Create a fall essentials post where you share any of your must-have items for fall (Me? I need scarves and vests!)

These posts can be anything but have it fit into your fall content category.  Example: If you sell bath bombs and you make pumpkin spice flavours—perfect fall essential!

#7 Reasons You Love Fall Post

Do you love Fall? Of course you do, otherwise, you wouldn’t be reading this post!

Take this opportunity to connect with your audience directly by listing why you love this season. Try posting one reason a day for a week or pick a day of the week for the next month if it fits your content style or you can do a single post as a part of your more personal content.

Think of things like pumpkin spice coffee, football games, crunchy leaves or sweater weather. To make sure these posts are gaining engagement, invite followers to share THEIR favourite things about fall. Don’t forget to mix in a few items from your shop or online store if applicable.

#8 Discount Code or Sale

Are you trying to sell off your Summer products or make room for Holiday products? Fall is a great time to offer a sale or discount on those items! Don’t wait until Black Friday or Cyber Monday, do it now when you are not competing with everyone else.

I know many people who like to do their holiday shopping as early as possible, and they can probably take advantage of these sales to make their life easier.

Not selling products? Share applicable sales you know about that your audience would benefit from.

#9 Questions and Polls

These posts are golden and such a great way to get your followers to interact with you. People LOVE to give their opinions.

A few examples:

  • Ask your followers to answer: “My favourite thing about fall is __.”

  • What is your favourite fall drink (think Pumpkin Spice, Apple Cider Spice, Caramel, Maple.)

  • Create a poll asking users if they love or hate Pumpkin Spice.

#10 Host A Contest

When all else fails and you have no idea what to post, a contest can be a great way to build your following (Make sure you are following Social Media rules!)

Hold a social media contest related to Fall and have your followers share pictures to get entered. Make sure you also have them tag your page or Instagram in their post.

Here are a few examples of fall contests you could hold/sponsor:

  • Pumpkin carving contest

  • Best fall scenery picture

  • Best Fall Dessert/Recipe

  • Most creative use of pumpkin

Prizes can be a local product/gift card, one of your products, or a fall-themed gift basket (apple cider mix, mugs, warm socks, scarf, pumpkin spice candles, etc.)

Big or small, celebrating Fall is easy social media content no matter what industry you are in!
