Using a planner for consistency on social media

“Post consistently and authentically on your social media feeds.”

It’s something you have heard from social media professionals over the years but seriously what does that even mean?

Posting consistently means different things for different industries. For some, it might mean posting once per week but making it a really high-impact post, like a Facebook live. For others, it might mean posting every day. 

No matter what being consistent means to you it is necessary to be successful in your business.

The more time you spend in your business and planning for your business, the more chances that you will actually get things done.

What exactly does being consistent mean?

The first step for being consistent in your online presence is to figure out where you are at now, and where you want to go. 

By understanding where your business is at right now, you can start keeping track of your numbers so you’re motivated to keep posting. 

The next step would be to create your content calendar. While a static content calendar for planning your social media weeks at a time is helpful for some people, others have asked about planning it as a part of their everyday life as a content creator. 

This can also work, so long as you can still stay on top of your daily, weekly, and monthly social media to-do’s. They’re easy to forget, so make sure you’re managing your social effectively, even when using a planner to create content. 

Being consistent on social media doesn’t look the same for everyone, the most important part is finding what works for you. 

Breaking down the steps to consistency

Reflect each week

Once you’ve decided what kind of content calendar will work for you (either something like a spreadsheet with every day planned,or using a planner to track your social media and your daily tasks), then you can really dig in. 

Each week, you can track a few different things as a part of your daily life to find success on social media. 

Ask yourself these questions: 

  • What are my numbers at the beginning of the week? 

  • Who will I connect with this week? 

  • What are my priorities? 

  • What are all the tasks I need to do? 

  • How can I create content out of what I’m already doing this week? 

From there, you have everything you need to brainstorm your content for the week! 

Make brainstorming a habit

Taking time at the beginning of each week to understand what your business is doing will make brainstorming ideas a lot easier!

Find time in your week to pre-plan what you’re going to create content for.

Knowing what you’re going to post about will always make creating content consistently a lot easier. But so will knowing when you’re going to post. Make sure to note your posts in your daily tasks if using a planner for your social media content.

Over the years I have often been asked by clients and students what tools, templates and tricks that I use to plan social media for my businesses/blog and for my clients.
